How To Reinstall Windows Without Losing Anything -

You can use this method as often as you like when you need to repair something that had gotten corrupted and you don't want to do a clean install.
This is better than doing a windows repair install from the cd because doing that can cause changes to settings and even make it so you can't get updates anymore from microsoft update site because of the 'silent install' they did a year or so ago (unless you rereg some dll files).
1- Start WindowsXP
2- Go to the location of your source files
3- Run WINNT32 /unattend
For example, D:\I386\winnt32 /unattend ( copy & paste this command into the RUN box, then press ENTER ) Your computer will do the rest.
OR
Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. Copy & paste > D:\I386\winnt32 /unattend (notice the space between 32 and / ) Press Enter.
If you have i386 on your drive, you can replace D: ( if D: is your cd drive ) with the location of it. (be sure it's the full i386 though)
D: is the driver letter where your windows XP Cd is if D:\I386\winnt32 /unattend doesn't work then try : d:\winnt32 /unattend.

TURN YOUR PC TO KARAOKE PLAYER WITH WINDOWS KARAOKE.

Want to have some fun with U-Sing-Along karaoke? you don't need to buy a fancy karaoke machine which, most likely, will disappoint you by the low audio quality but high... limitations.

I've seen many pricey karaoke machines out there that play thousands of songs, all from one single DVD disc. But the video scenes are boring since they're shared within the song tracks. The Midi audio quality from these players is not what you want (that's why such many songs can be stored in one single disc). And... it's impossible to manage the list of song tracks on the disc, for example, when you want to add your favorite songs or remove ones that you dislike.
This Windows Karaoke is a free software for non-commercial uses, so help yourself and enjoy. Feel free to send me comments/suggestions, as well as any questions you may have. Thanks to TheComputerTricks.com for their sponsorship.
With Windows Karaoke, you can turn your desktop or laptop to a karaoke machine, or even connect it to your home theater system. I suggest that you connect your laptop/desktop audio (line-out) to a mixer, which allows you to plug in a microphone. Then feed the audio from this mixer to your home theater system.
You can also use this player to play other media types such as MP3, movies, etc...
Download a copy of Windows Karaoke here.
System Requirements:
  • Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or newer.
  • MS .NET Framework (recommend 3.5 or newer)
  • Windows Media Player 9 or newer, which is available in most recent computers.

  • Installation is easy, just double-click on the Setup.exe and follow the instructions.

Configure Windows Karaoke

FAQ's
  1. Q: What types of files does Windows Karaoke play?
A: Windows Karaoke uses the Windows Media Player on your computer to play the video/audio, so it plays most of the video/audio file types such as AVI, MPG, MP3, WAV, etc..
  2. Q: Where can I buy Windows Karaoke?
A: Windows Karaoke is free, you can download a copy here.
Windows Karaoke is sponsored by TheComputerTricks.com, you can provide support by clicking on any ad on the site. Your support is greatly appreciated.
  3. Q: Where can I get the karaoke song tracks?
A: There are many sources that you can get karaoke song tracks. You can either download them from the internet, or extract them from DVD/VCD discs.
There are some software you can use to extract those tracks from a DVD to individual *.avi or *.mpg files. I personally use Handbrake.
With many VCD karaoke discs, you can simply copy those *.DAT files from the disc and rename them to *.mpg.
If you extract the tracks from a DVD, video codecs DivX or XviD could help reduce the size of your video files.
  4. Q: Can I use a remote control?
A: Sure you can. You can use any USB remote and map the buttons to the keyboard keys. Some Media Center Edition (MCE) remotes are available on ebay.
You might need a keymap utility to map the remote buttons to keyboard keys. Some of them are also free.
Check out "LM Remote Keymap", "Intelliremote", "HIP" (Human Interface Programmer)
  5. Q: Can I use this on my home theater?
A: Feed the audio from your desktop/laptop to your home theater, then you're good to go. You'll need a cable that goes from your PC line-out (or headset) to the RCA plugs on your receiver/mixer

Burn a CD/DVD on Windows 7 or Vista without using software

CD/DVD burning capability has been added to Windows Operating System since the release of Windows XP. However, the steps to burn CD/DVD on Windows Vista and Windows 7 are a bit different (and somewhat simpler) comparing to Windows XP.
For details on how to burn CD/DVD on Windows XP, click here
You can use this built-in feature to create a data CD/DVD or an audio CD. The steps below will guide you through the procedures. Although the steps below are based on Windows 7, they are very much similar to Windows Vista.
If you're using a Re-Writable CD (CD-RW) or DVD (DVD-RW, DVD+RW), make sure the disc is blank (or "formatted"). You might need to erase (or "format") it before using. For information how to erase a rewritable CD/DVD on Windows Vista or Windows 7 without using a third-party software, see this article

  1. Insert a blank recordable/rewritable CD (CD-R) or DVD (DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW) disc into the CD burner drive.
  2. With a new blank disc, Windows might pop up a prompt asking you which format you want to use (as shown on the image below).
As explained on the popup, the option "Like a USB Flash Drive" is more convenient if you want to use the disc as an external storage, which you can add or delete (rewritable disc) files on the fly; however, once the disc is formatted with this option, it can only be read on computers with Windows XP or later. On the other hand, the option "With a CD/DVD Player" is the traditional format of CD/DVD disc and is compatible with a wider range of Windows versions as well as other devices, but requires to burn the disc (or erase the entire disc) all at once
  3. To keep it simple, we will follow the steps to create traditional CD/DVD, so select "With a CD/DVD Player". Don't forget to change the "Disc title" to something descriptive for your disc, then click "Next".
  4. Navigate to the folders or files which you want to burn to the disc, then select (highlight) the folders/files and click "Burn" (located above the file browsing panels)
  5. A new window is now created similar to the following image, showing the selected files and folders added to the queue to burn to disc. Click "Burn to disc".
  6. On the next popup "Burn to Disc", verify the disc title and select the maximum burning speed, then click "Next"
  7. If you have selected audio files (i.e. MP3), you will be asked to burn the disc as data or audio as shown in the following image. For details on the differences between data and audio discs, please prefer to this article.
  8. The burning wizard will start writing data to the disc and will close and eject the CD/DVD when finish.
